Over the Water to See the Fish

This weekend (despite a late start due to another M ear infection) we headed one town over to take the ferry across the Puget Sound to Seattle. I love to do new things with the kids because you never know what they will say. We bought our ticket for the ferry and then parked in line and went and grabbed lunch. You could see the puzzled looks on their faces about exactly what was going to happen. When we went back to the car I wish I had a pic of the looks as we drove the car on and the look of wonder that a boat would float with all those cars on it.
We went up to the passenger deck to ride and E and G both kept saying "Where's the safety movie?" (a bit embarassing, but not an unreasonable question considering the problems in the WA Ferry System in the past few months). After we pulled away and the "Fun! We're moving!" part settled down E then looked around and asked "When do they serve snacks?"-----AHA! They were both thinking this would be service like an airplane with safety movie and snacks served. Funny! You never know what they are thinking or how they are making connections to what they already know.

In Seattle we went to the Aquarium ; OK but nothing to write home about (but I guess I am writing home about it anyway). Best parts were an O-shaped tank they had with jellyfish swimming in it. Terrific pic of G and M who were both thrilled watching jellyfish go round and round. They also had a tank to pet starfish-not that thrilling since we can do that on the beach down from our house. Sea otters were cute and E loves them since they are his school mascot --- he wants his pic taken with everything otter-like.

We walked over to the Market ( I don't know if you can tell from the pic but there are window boxes in front of the sign all filled with daffodils). There were tons of beautiful flowers for sale and a few fish being tossed about. It was really crowded--- last time we came on a Sunday morning which what I think we'll do next time we try it. It was hard to keep track of the kids and keep our group together. The kids got to pet a police officer's horse which was probably the most thrilling part of the day after the ferry ride. Our day ended with a quiet ride back home (by car---it was 1 1/2 hours to the next ferry departure and we were home well before that) and a movie night all in our PJs. Nice day.
love and hugs,
B
