One For Mom

This is not usually a cooking blog, but I'll make an exception to pass a recipe on to my mom; hey Dad, copy this and take it upstairs-thanks!
Ozark Sloppy Joes from Taste of Home magazine
1&1/2 pounds ground beef
1 medium green bell pepper
1 small onion
2 teaspoons sugar
1&1/2 teaspoons all purpose flour
1&1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce (I used 15 oz)
1&1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
hamburger buns
In large skillet brown beef with green pepper and onion over medium heat. Drain.
Stir in sugar, flour, seasonings, tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. cover and simmer for 10 - 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon 1/2 cup onto each bun. Yield 8 servings.
You could substitute ground turkey or chicken and I usually don't have Worcestershire sauce on hand so I used a bit of teriyaki sauce--- strange substitution with delicious results. There was a bit of a war over the leftovers tonight.
love and hugs and should I yell at the children when they are stealing fresh peas right off the vines in the garden? Part of me feels like yelling and part of me says "They are are so in love with fresh peas they are sneaking around behind my back to get to them". Something to ponder. B
