Up on the Soapbox (Again)

There is a commercial on TV that bothers me to no end. It is for some kind of Comcast home communication control center. The Modern Mom is watching a video in the kitchen on the contraption showing her how to make paella. She then (using said contraption) emails to 'alert the family about paella night'. The obnoxious teenage son then emails a video back saying he didn't know what that was but he wasn't going to eat it. Modern Mom then uses the contraption to call to order the obnoxious teenage son a pizza.
Here I go t point out multiple levels of WRONG in this ad:
  • First of all- finding a video and using it to cook. Fine.
  • Alerting the family--- I just don't feel this is necessary unless it is some kind of special occasion. Then again perhaps it is a special occasion for this modern mom to make dinner herself.
  • Obnoxious son's video to modern mom--- he would receive a summons home immediately for his rude tone. Also his phone would disappear.
  • Here is the real kicker for me: Modern Mom actually picks up the phone after receiving the rude video from teenage son and orders him a pizza. Whatever happened to "If you don't like it make yourself a PB and J"??? Is this woman actually being a short order cook and making multiple meals on other nights in order to please everyone? Wow, modern mom is highly inefficient if she is. Maybe other nights she just orders takeout from multiple restaurants. Who pays for the pizza? If kid is gonna pay I might even go for it, but if he is old enough to pay for it he is old enough to order it himself--- maybe even with the cell phone he just made his annoying video on.

I am just about ready to toss the TV out the window if I see this commercial again. Sorry about venting to you all. Hope you have a lovely weekend. I will send Easter pics from something Easter-y soon. B
