Finally home. Our travel day ended up like this. Please imagine this with three kids, one of whom does not walk (M recovering from broken leg) and keeping all their stuff and our stuff together as well as keeping a bottle of antibiotic cold (read finding ice after security each time we go to the airport and replacing ice as it melts).
Tuesday 11am EST- drop off at Richmond airport. Van service to Norfolk Airport 11 - 12:30 EST. At airport the tickets are under Delta but with a Northwest confirmation number-- straightened out and through security by 1:45. Flight from Norfolk at 4:30. Arrive at Detroit at 6:40 for a connecting flight that should have gone at 7:10. Connecting flight is delayed until 10:10 and doesn't actually take off until 11:10 EST. Seattle at 1:20PST Wednesday. Home by 3am PST.
Oh, I have to give a big "BOO" to the guys on the first plane who would not switch seats with D thus leaving the 3 year old and 5 year old sitting on their own-- and then they glared at D when the kids were noisy and troublesome. A big thank-you shout out to Pat Monahan from the band Train for realizing we were separated on the second plane and asking if changing seats with him would help at all-- this put E back in a row with G so he didn't have to sit by himself. Go to iTunes right now and buy a Train or Pat Monahan album.
Yes, the kids did go to school Wednesday. They slept on the plane and then in the car and then when we got home. They were all a bit weepy and nervous about going to school, but I explained that they were going to be nervous no matter when they started back.
House is settled, laundry done (thanks Mom for letting us dominate your washer during the visit), Christmas inside is all down (thanx E, G and M for all the help) and outdoor Christmas comes down today. Pics from the trip later today hopefully.
love and hugs and if a parent needs a seat change on a plane it helps everyone have a more enjoyable flight, B
