Every time I see G's soccer team together I think of the Breakfast Club. They are a brain, an athlete, a princess, a basket case, and I think all I am missing is the criminal. I really don't know any of the kids outside of soccer so maybe in their real lives they are different.
The brain: kind of off in left field in his own thoughts; soccer would not be one of the thoughts, this is G sometimes.
The athlete: the ball belongs to him/her and only him/her and no one else is going to help get a goal and there is no way on earth he/she will ever pass the ball. They can play the game alone.
The princess: you would think I was talking about the little girl with sparkly shoes and totally cute soccer socks each week, but she's not it(she would kick you around the floor). Princess needs a water break every ten seconds and the ball might hurt her so while she runs near it, she doesn't actually want to touch it.
The basket case: only plays one position and when the ball touches her she runs from the floor...screaming and crying. She has made several fantastic plays accidentally and ran hysterically from the floor each time. This also happens in practice not just games.
I don't think we have a criminal on our team. I would say the kid I saw at the first practice trying to kick the soccer ball into the basketball goals might be on the list there. I'll have to see what he is like when we play his team.
This mix of kids makes it really fun to watch soccer. I am completely enjoying practices; I try to walk the track, but keep stopping to see what is happening in the gym and eventually give up and just go sit and watch.
So while they may be a brain, an athlete, a princess, and a basket case, when they hit the gym together they are the gators, kindergarten indoor soccer team.
love and hugs, B

I spent the day with my kindergartner's class yesterday and seeing all the personalities that make up his class was so amusing.
georgie's soccer team name is the night dolphin rockets...i think his coach has a sense of humor. just picture all those parents screaming "go night dolphin rockets!!" repeatedly on the sideline
Not unlike my 7 year olds football (Aussie Rules) team but there's 18 of them LOL. I'm off to be the parent helper at kindy on Monday - now that will be interesting :)
