Spring Break and PLANES!

Hey y'all! Just wanted to catch up on all the spring break fun! The weather was very Washington. During the pretty minutes we played outside as much as possible. During the times stuck inside the kids did things like this with LEGO:
(E's creation)
By Thursday they were bored of their own activities so I put them to work in the kitchen. G helped make dinner, chicken spaghetti. It turned out completely delicious.
E made Hot Cross Buns for Good Friday and then delivered some to neighbors. They turned out great evidence would be M's face after sampling some.

Friday we went to the Museum of Flight at Boeing. I was looking forward to it as an activity and because I love to watch the kids when they discover something new or see something they love. E is dreaming of becoming a pilot. G and M both love traveling. I didn't expect to really love this museum, though in a different way then the boys. As we drove into the parking lot (right next to the runway) the new 787 Dreamliner was taking off on a test flight. D and I understood the significance of this; the boys simply thought it was awesome to be this close to a plane taking off. It shook the car a bit. Our first exhibit was space. Fun. Lots of real artifacts to see. Lots of simulators.

Took a play break in the tot area. Expect to see E doing this for real in about 15 years.
Next came the Great Gallery. A plane gallery. There are not words so I will give you pictures.

This amazed all of us: the blackbird carrying a drone plane. So amazing to see it up close and walk right under it.

Each boy chose his favorite plane. E was a blue angel, G was the flying car, and M picked one that was red.

This pic is why we try to take secret adventures. Hope they remember it.

I chose my favorite plane too. Corsair- for every twelve battle missions flown it was victorious eleven. And the wings fold up-- a very unique feature.

All the boys were interested in the type of plane and if it could be used in battle. I took the artsy route and was interested in the nose art and all the different ways the planes were displayed.
The only disappointment for the day was that the outdoor exhibit was closed. We all wanted to walk through Air Force One, but the missions was scrubbed. Pics through the fence was the best we got for Air Force One and the Concorde.

Last stop was the museum control tower. Transmissions from the Boeing control tower are broadcast live and all the instruments from a real control tower are there. We saw 2 planes take off.

A wonderful day. Sometimes I wonder what I will do with a house full of boys, but we all find something to enjoy on our adventures.
Love and hugs and ready for takeoff, B
