A Pleasant Walk Under the Power Lines

There is one thing I have to say about the granola munchers (meant in a loving way) here: they are dedicated to making public walking trails that are beautiful and plentiful. Since mono boy, M, can't go many places right now (too contagious and too tired) I used the beautiful, warm weather and got out of the house and got some exercise. The trail we took opened a few weeks ago and we tried it as a family once with the kids on scooters. Today it was M, the camera, and me. When you begin the trail it looks daunting.
That's it. Blow it up so you get a good look at where we are headed. Yeah, that's how I felt the first time too. But then we start and the scenery keeps us going {and counting dogs}.
M was cranky at the start, but came around when we began to hear bulldozers working somewhere. We found them near this pond putting in a gravel road for some work.
M could've stayed here all day watching diggers. My goal was next---the prettiest barn I have ever seen. It is in spectacular condition considering the weather it has been sitting in for nearly 100 years.
After this the scenery is pretty Northwest woodland scenes and peeks of the harbor through the trees.
And before you know it we are at the other end looking at this:
And thinking "WOW! Look how far we have come! We did it!" and the pessimist part of me is saying "I have to go all the way back there? What was I thinking? I should have stopped a long time ago. I wonder if M and I could trade places-- I ride in the stroller and he pushes." But the scenery is just as beautiful and the day is getting warmer and M is finding his trail of dropped pretzels and watching for birds and counting dogs. And before we know it we are looking at my barn and then watching the diggers and then looking back to see where we had just been and the trail didn't seem all that long.
love and hugs and we had all that time outside and he has mono and he still won't nap today ARRGGHHH! B
